{"id":2562,"date":"2020-05-25T10:55:14","date_gmt":"2020-05-25T10:55:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/winsysgroup.com\/en\/?p=2562"},"modified":"2020-05-25T10:55:14","modified_gmt":"2020-05-25T10:55:14","slug":"eric-benchimol-ceo-of-win-systems-talks-about-the-effects-of-the-covid-19-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/winsysgroup.com\/en\/eric-benchimol-ceo-of-win-systems-talks-about-the-effects-of-the-covid-19-pandemic\/","title":{"rendered":"Eric Benchimol, CEO of Win Systems, talks about the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Malta, <\/strong><strong>May 25, 2020<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong> \u2013 In this in-depth interview, the CEO of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.winsysgroup.com\"><strong>Win Systems<\/strong><\/a>, Eric Benchimol, talks about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the future plans for the company, and possible consequences of the health crisis in the gaming and entertainment sector.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The first question is almost mandatory: how has the world crisis impacted on Win Systems? <\/strong><strong>What measures were taken?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>First of all, from <strong>Win Systems<\/strong> we\u2019d like to share our solidarity and support with everyone who has lost loved ones during this terrible crisis, while wishing a speedy recovery to all patients.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>At the very first moment of the pandemic, our priority was to protect the health of our employees. This is why we closed our 9 offices and 2 plants worldwide and we organized our staff to work remotely from home, even before the recommendation of local authorities to do so.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Our next priority was our finance health; thanks to the trust of our partners and investors in the company, we adopted the required actions to minimize the economic impact in our business.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>After this, our priority was start working on how to support our clients when they are able to reopen their casinos.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are you developing to back the casinos when reopening?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>We are working with 2 main priorities: the first one is helping casinos to maximize their income and profitability in such a complex business environment. Our second priority, of course, is to facilitate the efficient accomplishment of hygiene and social distancing measures, both for players and for the casino staff.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How can Win Systems lead the casinos to maximize their income and profitability?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Firstly, we want the casinos to offer 100% of their machines for their players, there is no need to block any of the machines in advance to maintain the social distancing between players. Thanks to the <strong>PlaySafe<\/strong> functionalities we developed within our casino management system <strong>Wigos<\/strong>, we can achieve both objectives at once.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In parallel, our development teams in Gaming are working very hard to make our offer of slot games for <strong>GameStar<\/strong>, and the electronic roulette range for <strong>Gold Club<\/strong> even more attractive. The aim is to have the whole of the casino \u00a0active for players while making it as engaging as possible; this is the way we can maximize the income and the profitability of the operators.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How can you achieve this while keeping all required security measures?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The new <strong>Wigos PlaySafe<\/strong> functionalities allow maintaining social distancing between players, even without security screens. We do so by automatically disabling the adjacent machines to the one that is being used. When the player finishes the game session, the system automatically disables the slot machine until it has been disinfected by the staff, and the machines at the sides are enabled again. <strong>Wigos PlaySafe<\/strong> also reduces the need of physical contact of the casino employees with the gaming machines, it suggests similar machines to players if they want to play a machine which is disabled, etc. It provides a wide and powerful set of functionalities, which are also flexible and \u00a0adaptable to every casino and every situation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The activity in Win Systems has never stopped, which other priorities are you working on?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Close contact with our clients is our signature, and we have been in permanent contact to understand their situation and to respond to their needs. We\u2019re willing to facilitate as much as we can in these difficult times, and also at the reopening. And not only for casinos, we\u2019ve also been very active in developing our systems for arcades, as well as in the Lottery Division\u2026 We\u2019re trying to take the most out of these days of inactivity in our sector.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Let\u2019s talk about the future, what do you think that companies should learn from this difficult situation?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>This pandemic halted our sector (amongst many others) in a very short period of time, companies had no time to react. I think that those businesses with strong strategic plans, which are diversified, strongly supported by partners and investors, and also flexible enough, will have better chances after this terrible crisis. And I\u2019m sure this is the case for <strong>Win Systems<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A final question: temporary closure of landbased casinos allowed the online sector to grow. Do you think this trend will remain in the future, will it change players\u2019 behaviour in the long term?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>We always said that landbased and online game are progressively meeting and merging. Each one has its own benefits, and players can choose one or the other in different moments, as they are complementary. Without doubt, as soon as the landbased casinos reopen, players will be back (with protection measures, of course). Landbased casinos offer some features such as social relation, side services, personal attention\u2026 that are highly appreciated by players.
